Fraud, DUI, and Crashes Highlight Busy Day in Wyomissing

WYOMISSING, PA — Police responded to 26 incidents across Wyomissing on Tuesday, March 24, including a reported fraud totaling thousands of dollars, multiple crashes, and several traffic violations, authorities said.

The day began at 7:25 a.m. when officers responded to Park Road North for a 911 hang-up call. Police reported no emergency was found upon arrival.

At 8:26 a.m., officers were dispatched to Route 222 near Papermill Road for a single-vehicle crash. Police said the driver reported swerving to avoid another vehicle and striking debris on the shoulder. The driver was not injured, and the vehicle was towed.

At 8:35 a.m., officers responded to Clayton Avenue and Penn Avenue for a non-reportable crash. Police reported no injuries, and both parties exchanged information.

At 10 a.m., police assisted the Berks County Sheriff’s Office with an investigation on Reading Boulevard, according to authorities.

At 10:47 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on State Hill Road near Woodland Road for a window tint violation. Police reported that suspected marijuana was recovered, and the driver was warned.

Between 11:05 a.m. and 11:49 a.m., police handled multiple 911 hang-up calls on State Hill Road and Wellington Boulevard. Officers reported no emergencies, including one instance attributed to a child accidentally dialing.

At 11:56 a.m., officers responded to Woodland Road for an intoxicated individual. Police reported the subject was removed from the premises and cited.

At 1:09 p.m., police responded to Deborah Drive for a reported fraud incident. Authorities said the victim reported a financial loss valued at approximately $9,470.

At 1:16 p.m., officers were dispatched to State Hill Road near Woodland Road for a reported reckless driver. Police reported the complaint was unfounded.

At 2:43 p.m., police took a report of a hit-and-run crash on Berkshire Boulevard that had occurred two days earlier. Information was collected for follow-up, according to authorities.

At 3 p.m., officers conducted fingerprinting services on Reading Boulevard for employment purposes.

At 4:05 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Park Road North and issued a citation for a school bus violation.

At 4:37 p.m., officers responded to Evans Avenue for another 911 hang-up call. Police reported no emergency was found.

At 5:05 p.m., officers were dispatched to Cambridge Avenue for reports of individuals riding scooters and bicycles through front lawns. Police reported no issues upon arrival.

At 5:26 p.m., police responded to Woodland Road for a 911 hang-up call. Authorities reported no emergency was found.

At 7:08 p.m., officers assisted another agency after a report of a missing person near 8th Avenue and Penn Avenue. Police reported the individual was not missing and had chosen not to return home.

At 7:24 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop at 8th Avenue and Penn Avenue for a window tint violation. Authorities said the driver was also operating with a suspended license and was cited.

At 7:58 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on North Wyomissing Boulevard near Park Road North. Police reported the driver was operating with a suspended registration and DUI-related suspension and was cited.

At 8:34 p.m., police responded to Greenwich Street for a public service call involving an overflowing sewage issue. Borough crews were notified.

At 9:03 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Route 422 near Berkshire Boulevard for speeding. Police reported the driver was cited.

At 9:53 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Route 222 near State Hill Road for speeding. Police reported the driver was cited and found to have an expired license.

At 10:13 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Route 222 near Route 422 for following too closely. The driver was warned, according to authorities.

At 11:14 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on Penn Avenue near Belmont Avenue for expired registration. Police reported the driver was cited and found to have a suspended license and no insurance.

At 11:35 p.m., officers assisted West Reading police on Reading Avenue, where a driver was found passed out behind the wheel. Police reported the individual was under the influence of marijuana.

Police said the incidents remain part of routine daily activity, with follow-up investigations ongoing where applicable.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
