WEST CHESTER, PA — A 58-year-old East Coventry man has been convicted of sexually abusing a victim from ages 8-15 years old. The name of the defendant is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

A Chester County jury returned guilty verdicts Monday for multiple counts of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault of a child for sexually abusing the victim from ages 8-15 years old. He will be sentenced at a later date.

“The defendant abused an innocent victim and used his power as an adult to continue perpetuating these horrible acts of abuse with impunity,” Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan. “The victim, in this case, showed tremendous bravery and courage in coming forward, even years later, as many victims do. My office will continue to vigorously prosecute anyone who abuses children and help bring justice to victims. We thank the Chester County Detectives and ADA Zachary Yurick for their dedication to this case.”

The Assistant District Attorney Zachary Yurick presented evidence at trial that on January 31, 2021, Chester County Detectives interviewed a 35-year-old woman who disclosed that she was abused as a child by her stepfather when she was between the ages of 8-15 years old. She also stated that the abuse occurred regularly at their residence in East Coventry Township, and in the defendant’s vehicle. At the time the defendant committed these crimes he was between the ages of 28-36 years old. The sexual abuse included forced sexual intercourse, oral sexual intercourse, and digital penetration.

Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan commended the Chester County Detectives for the investigation leading to a successful prosecution. This case was prosecuted by ADA Zachary Yurick.
