DUI Crash, Scam, and Theft Cases Under Investigation

EMBREEVILLE, PA — Pennsylvania State Police reported multiple incidents across Chester County in recent weeks, including a DUI crash, thefts, and an alleged scam targeting an elderly resident.

According to state police, on February 28 at approximately 3:03 p.m., troopers responded to a residence in South Coventry Township for a reported theft. A 68-year-old man from Pottstown told investigators that $2,000 in cash and groceries were stolen from his home. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.

Later that same day at approximately 6:09 p.m., troopers responded to a 911 hang-up call in the 0 block of 6 Point Court in Honey Brook Township. According to police, the call led to an investigation that determined two juveniles were involved in a physical altercation. Authorities said the incident remains under investigation.

In a separate case, state police reported that on January 23 at approximately 11:37 a.m., troopers responded to Horseshoe Pike in Honey Brook Borough for a reported theft. According to investigators, an 81-year-old woman from Honey Brook allegedly lost $3,500 after being targeted in a romance scam involving fraudulent communication and deception. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

State police also reported details of a crash that occurred on February 21 at approximately 9:23 p.m. on Octorara Trail south of Octorara Road in Sadsbury Township. According to investigators, a 20-year-old Coatesville man allegedly attempted to pass another vehicle while navigating a curve, lost control, and struck an embankment.

Police said the driver was taken into custody after troopers observed an open container of alcohol in the vehicle and conducted field sobriety tests. According to authorities, the driver’s blood alcohol concentration was measured at 0.148%. Charges were filed through District Court 15-3-07.

Troopers said the vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. The driver was transported to a local hospital for blood testing, according to police.

Authorities also confirmed a separate report documenting the same crash listed charges as pending at the time of the initial investigation.

All incidents remain under investigation unless otherwise noted, according to state police.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
