WYOMISSING, PA — Wyomissing police handled a surge of incidents ranging from a death investigation and alleged human trafficking arrests to narcotics enforcement, crashes, and thefts during a 72-hour period from February 3 through February 5, according to a detailed incident log released by the department.
Among the most serious cases, officers initiated a death investigation on February 3 along Innovation Way. The incident required several hours of police activity, with officers remaining on scene into the evening. Authorities did not release details regarding the cause or circumstances of the death, and the case was listed as under follow-up review. No suspects or criminal charges were identified in the log.
Police also documented multiple incidents tied to an ongoing human trafficking investigation. On February 3, officers made an arrest related to a human trafficking detail conducted on January 15. A similar entry on February 5 noted a male who responded to police in connection with the same investigation. Due to the sensitive nature of the allegations and the status of the investigation, police did not release names or additional details.
Traffic enforcement accounted for a significant portion of police activity. Officers conducted numerous traffic stops that resulted in citations or warnings for alleged violations including suspended licenses, expired registrations, lighting violations, window tint infractions, and scofflaw warrants. In one February 4 stop on Penn Avenue, police allege a driver stopped for equipment violations was found to have a suspended license and was issued a citation. In another incident on February 4, officers allegedly took a driver into custody after discovering multiple outstanding warrants during a traffic stop.
Several vehicle crashes were reported during the period. On February 4, officers responded to a reportable crash on Route 222 involving a vehicle that allegedly slid while changing lanes and flipped over. Police reported no injuries, though the vehicle required towing. On February 5, a separate accident involved a vehicle striking a parked, unoccupied police car. Additional crashes included non-reportable accidents where drivers exchanged information without injuries.
Hit-and-run allegations were reported on both February 3 and February 5. In one incident on Route 422, a driver reported being sideswiped by another vehicle that fled the scene while merging. Another hit-and-run was reported on Reading Avenue, though police listed the case as under follow-up due to limited information.
Police also investigated a reported phone theft on Woodland Road and took a report of alleged bank fraud on Park Road North. Disorderly conduct calls included reports of individuals refusing to leave private property or soliciting in violation of borough ordinances; in several cases, officers reported that individuals left without further incident.
Narcotics enforcement activity was documented on February 5, when officers conducting a traffic stop for unsafe driving allegedly recovered controlled substances and initiated follow-up investigation. No charges were listed in the initial log entry.
Other calls for service included multiple burglar alarms later determined to be false, welfare checks, medical assists, domestic-related calls described as verbal only, disabled vehicles, parking complaints, and numerous 911 hang-up calls that were investigated and cleared without emergency findings.
In total, Wyomissing police logged 58 separate incidents during the three-day period, illustrating a mix of routine patrol duties and serious, ongoing investigations. Several cases remain open pending further review.
All criminal complaints and charges referenced in the police log are allegations. Any suspect, arrestee, or defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
