Coatesville Resident Arrested on Gun Charges and DUI in West Chester

WEST CHESTER, PA — The West Chester Police Department announced the arrest of an 18-year-old Coatesville resident on gun charges.

Vamouyen Kamara has been charged with Firearms Not To Be Carried Without a License and Driving Under The Influence Controlled Substance.

The criminal complaint alleges that on June 9, 2023, at approximately 11:56 PM, officers were conducting a DUI checkpoint in the 600 Block of E. Market St. Officers came into contact with 18-year-old Vamouyen Kamara of Coatesville, PA and, while speaking with him, police observed signs of impairment. Following an investigation, Kamara was taken into custody for DUI. During a search incident to arrest a loaded firearm was located concealed on Kamara’s person. Kamara was then transported to the West Chester Police Department.

A preliminary hearing is pending at District Court 15-1-04.
