WILMINGTON, DEWilmington Police have apprehended a suspect implicated in an attempted burglary incident reported in mid-September. Charles Tarver, 39, was taken into custody on October 28, following a police investigation into allegations of his involvement in the crime.

The incident in question occurred on September 17, at approximately 2:38 a.m., on the 100 block of West 35th Street. Officers from the Uniformed Services Division were dispatched to the location in response to a reported burglary in progress. Upon arrival, officers were informed by the victim that a male individual had allegedly tried to force entry into their home. Subsequent investigation led to the identification of Charles Tarver as the suspect.

During the initial attempt to engage with Tarver at the scene, he reportedly evaded law enforcement, prompting officers to secure arrest warrants. A month later, Tarver was located in the 800 block of North Market Street and was arrested without further incident.

Tarver is facing multiple charges, including attempted burglary in the first degree, terroristic threatening, resisting arrest, harassment, and criminal mischief under $1,000. Following his arrest, he was arraigned at the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and is currently held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution, with bail set at $30,000 cash-only.

Law enforcement officials emphasize that a criminal charge is not an indication of guilt, and Tarver, like all individuals in similar circumstances, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Police continue to encourage community awareness and cooperation in ongoing investigations to support justice and public safety.
