NEW CASTLE, DE — Three men have been arrested by the New Castle County Division of Police in connection with an alleged armed robbery and multiple firearm-related offenses following a report of possible armed individuals in the Simonds Gardens neighborhood earlier this month.
The incident occurred on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at approximately 2:08 p.m., when officers responded to the area of Simonds Drive and Pilgrim Road after receiving a report of individuals potentially carrying firearms. Upon arrival, authorities encountered a group of individuals matching the descriptions provided, one of whom attempted to conceal an object in his waistband.
During the investigation, police identified 18-year-old I’yon Williams of Newark in possession of a handgun, later confirmed to have been reported stolen from Seaford, Delaware, in March 2025. Another individual, 22-year-old Ian Berbick of New Castle, fled on foot but was apprehended shortly after. He was allegedly found carrying a handgun with an obliterated serial number. A third individual, 19-year-old Gregory Williams of Wilmington, was also detained but initially released due to insufficient evidence connecting him to criminal activity at the scene.
Further investigation led officers to a silver Dodge SUV believed to have been associated with the group. The vehicle’s occupants informed police of a recent robbery at a business in the 3000 block of New Castle Avenue. Surveillance footage from the store reportedly showed I’yon Williams and Gregory Williams confronting a victim at gunpoint, demanding property.
Charges Brought Against I’yon Williams and Ian Berbick
Following his arrest, I’yon Williams was charged with multiple offenses, including one count of Robbery in the First Degree (felony), one count of Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (felony), and one count of Receiving a Stolen Firearm (felony), among others. He was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $135,000 cash bail.
Ian Berbick was charged with offenses including one count of Possession of a Large-Capacity Magazine During the Commission of a Felony (felony), one count of Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number (felony), and one count of Resisting Arrest (misdemeanor). He was arraigned and held at the same facility on $87,000 cash bail.
Gregory Williams Surrenders and Faces Additional Charges
Upon further review of the surveillance footage, Gregory Williams was identified as a suspect in the alleged robbery. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and on May 13, 2025, he turned himself in at New Castle County Police Headquarters. He faces charges including one count of Robbery in the First Degree (felony), one count of Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (felony), and one count of Conspiracy in the Second Degree (felony). Justice of the Peace Court 11 arraigned him, and he was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $132,000 cash bail.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have confirmed that the investigation remains active as they work to determine if any additional individuals were involved.
Law enforcement officials emphasize that all three suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
