Armed Robbers Target Casino Parking Lot Victims in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE — Police are investigating two armed robberies reported Sunday night in the parking lot of Delaware Park Casino.

Delaware State Police reported troopers responded at approximately 10:30 p.m. Sunday, March 8 to Delaware Park Casino, 777 Delaware Park Boulevard, after receiving reports of robberies in the parking lot.

According to investigators, two victims were walking through the lot when two unknown suspects exited a dark-colored Nissan sedan while allegedly armed with handguns. Police said the suspects demanded the victims’ property, and the victims complied before the suspects fled the area in the Nissan with an undisclosed amount of money and personal belongings.

Authorities reported the suspects returned to the parking lot a short time later and approached another person walking through the lot. Police said the suspects again allegedly displayed handguns and demanded the victim’s property.

During that incident, investigators said one suspect allegedly struck the victim in the head with a handgun before taking the victim’s car keys. The suspects then fled the area in both the Nissan and the victim’s vehicle.

Police said the injured victim, a 24-year-old man from Avondale, Pennsylvania, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to state police, troopers and officers from the New Castle County Police Department later located the stolen vehicle within Wilmington city limits. Authorities said officers attempted to stop the vehicle, leading to a brief pursuit before the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot in the area of Bradford Street and B Street.

Police reported the suspect was not apprehended.

The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate the incident. Detectives ask anyone who witnessed the robberies or has information to contact Detective B. All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
