Wilmington Man Faces Gun Charges After Reported Street Fight

WILMINGTON, DE — A 38-year-old man faces firearm charges after Wilmington police responded to a report of a physical altercation involving two men, one of whom was reportedly armed with a handgun.

Police said officers with the Uniformed Services Division were in the 200 block of South Heald Street at approximately 10:05 p.m. Oct. 4 when they received information about a fight involving two men and a firearm.

Officers contacted Lamar Taylor, 38, and took him into custody without incident, according to police.

During the encounter, officers recovered a .40-caliber handgun, police reported.

Taylor was charged with possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Police did not provide additional details about the reported altercation or Taylor’s alleged involvement in it.

Taylor was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 03 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $30,000 cash-only bail, according to police.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
