Wilmington Gun Investigation Ends With Teen’s Arrest

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police arrested a city man last Thursday night after officers executing a search warrant allegedly recovered a loaded handgun from a residence on East 3rd Street.

According to investigators, members of the Safe Streets Task Force began an investigation at approximately 8:00 p.m. May 21 in the 500 block of East 3rd Street involving multiple wanted individuals.

Police reported officers executed a search warrant at a residence in the block and located 19-year-old Shahid Reeves-Jackson, who was taken into custody without incident.

According to investigators, officers allegedly recovered a loaded 9mm handgun during the search.

Police charged Reeves-Jackson with two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited.

According to court proceedings, Reeves-Jackson was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $20,000 cash-only bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
