WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police arrested a city man on multiple gun and drug charges after investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on Ashton Street earlier this month.
According to investigators, members of the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division had been conducting an investigation into alleged illegal drug sales involving 43-year-old Darryl Braxton in the 100 block of Ashton Street.
Police reported officers executed a search warrant at approximately 10:15 a.m. May 19 and took Braxton into custody without incident.
During the search, investigators allegedly recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, a loaded .380 caliber handgun with an obliterated serial number, ammunition, approximately 19.36 grams of crack cocaine, $3,170 in cash, and drug packaging materials.
According to police, Braxton was charged with:
- Two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony
- Possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (Tier 2)
- Five counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited
- Possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number
- Possession of a controlled substance (Tier 2)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Police reported Braxton was arraigned in New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $207,000 cash-only bail.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
