WILMINGTON, DE — A 41-year-old man faces drug trafficking and firearm charges after Wilmington police reported seizing crack cocaine, two firearms and ammunition during an investigation into suspected illegal drug sales.
According to the Wilmington Police Department, members of the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division had been investigating Amir Watson, 41, in connection with suspected drug sales in the 900 block of East 17th Street.
At approximately 11:20 a.m. Oct. 6, officers conducted a vehicle stop related to the investigation. Police said they contacted Watson and took him into custody without incident.
Following the arrest, investigators executed a search warrant in the 800 block of Morrow Street, where officers reported recovering 44.6 grams of crack cocaine, a loaded .38-caliber revolver, a .22-caliber rifle and ammunition.
Watson was charged with Tier 3 possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and three counts of possession of ammunition by a person prohibited.
Watson was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $130,000 cash-only bail, according to police.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
