DOWNINGTOWN, PA — A West Chester woman is facing attempted homicide and related charges after authorities allege she shot another person during an incident in Downingtown Borough.
According to the Chester County District Attorney’s Office and the Downingtown Police Department, 60-year-old Debra Dora has been charged with attempted murder and related offenses following the shooting.
Authorities allege Downingtown police officers responded to the 200 block of Chestnut Street after receiving a report of a shooting. According to the criminal complaint, officers found Dora still in possession of a firearm and took her into custody without further incident.
Police reported that officers also located the victim, who sustained a gunshot wound that was determined to be non-life-threatening.
According to the criminal complaint, Dora is accused of shooting the victim and threatening the victim’s life.
Authorities reported that Magisterial District Judge John Hipple arraigned Dora and set bail at $750,000. She was remanded to Chester County Prison after failing to post bail.
Investigators indicated the evidence gathered thus far suggests the shooting was an isolated incident.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
