WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man was arrested on firearms-related charges after officers attempting to serve an outstanding warrant allegedly recovered a stolen handgun, according to Wilmington Police.
Police reported that members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the area of West 23rd and North Jessup streets at approximately 7:43 p.m. on June 17 regarding a wanted subject.
According to investigators, officers located 23-year-old Dayvon Gregory in the 2300 block of North Jessup Street and confirmed he was wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by the Wilmington Police Department.
Police said officers attempted to make contact with Gregory, who allegedly fled on foot. Authorities reported that Gregory was apprehended a short time later without further incident.
According to police, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun during the encounter. Investigators said the firearm had been reported stolen.
In addition to the outstanding warrant, Gregory has been charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm and resisting arrest.
Court records show Gregory was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $9,000 unsecured bail pending further proceedings.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
