Two Men Sentenced in Luzerne County Sexual Assault Cases

HARRISBURG, PA — Two men were sentenced to state prison in Luzerne County this week in separate sexual assault-related cases, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced Thursday.

Dominic A. Murphy, 26, of Lycoming County, was sentenced to 32 to 64 months in prison followed by five years of probation after pleading guilty to felony charges involving possession of child sexual abuse material.

Prosecutors said Murphy was found to be in possession of hundreds of illegal images during an investigation conducted by the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section.

As part of his sentence, Murphy is required to register as a sex offender for 15 years, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

In a separate case, Miguel A. Nunez, 40, of Schuylkill County, was sentenced to 39 to 78 months in prison after being convicted in November of aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault following a three-day trial.

According to prosecutors, the charges stemmed from a 2022 incident involving a woman at a gentlemen’s club.

Nunez is required to register as a sex offender for life, officials said.

“These convictions and state prison sentences should send a message that sexual deviance will not be tolerated in Pennsylvania,” Sunday said in a statement.

Both sentences were imposed Thursday in Luzerne County Court.

Deputy Attorney General Mary Phillips prosecuted Murphy’s case, while Deputy Attorney General Rachael Coleman prosecuted the case against Nunez.
