HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA — A traffic stop for an equipment violation led to multiple weapons and drug charges against a Montgomery County man, police said.
According to Lower Moreland Township Police, officers conducted a traffic stop on March 23 at the 3100 block of Philmont Avenue near Manor Road due to an inoperable headlight.
Police identified the driver as 59-year-old Michael Whitehead, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
During the investigation, officers reported locating a firearm, suspected drugs, and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Whitehead was charged with possession of a firearm prohibited, firearms not to be carried without a license, manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, intentional possession of a controlled substance by a person not registered, and use or possession of drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Authorities said Whitehead was taken into custody on March 23 and was scheduled for arraignment on March 24.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
