WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 16-year-old Tuesday night.
According to police, officers responded to the 1600 block of West 5th Street at approximately 8:33 p.m. following reports of a shooting.
Investigators reported that a 16-year-old male who had sustained a gunshot wound arrived at a local hospital in critical condition. Police said the teen later died from his injuries.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, and no information regarding a suspect or possible motive has been announced.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to police, and additional details will be released as they become available.
