KENNETT SQUARE, PA — A 17-year-old girl is accused of sharing inappropriate, explicit content involving another juvenile on social media, according to Kennett Square Police.
Police reported that on January 29, officers received a Safe2Say tip alleging that a video involving a juvenile had been posted to another juvenile’s Instagram story.
According to investigators, the report was confirmed, and the phone belonging to the accused juvenile was seized.
Police stated that after executing a search warrant, investigators located the video and evidence that it had allegedly been shared on Instagram, along with disparaging remarks about the victim.
Authorities reported that the case was forwarded to the Chester County Juvenile Probation Office, and a juvenile allegation was filed against the 17-year-old female.
Police said the charges include offenses related to child sexual abuse material, unlawful dissemination of such material, criminal use of a communication facility, and cyber harassment.
The investigation was conducted with involvement from an officer assigned to the Chester County Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, police reported.
Authorities are encouraging anyone who may be a victim of online exploitation involving children to report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children through its CyberTipline or by calling 1-800-THE-LOST.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
