Suspect in Early Morning Bear Burglary Tracked to Wawa

BEAR, DE — A 32-year-old Maryland man is accused of burglary and related offenses following an early morning break-in at a Bear business, according to Delaware State Police.

State police reported that troopers responded around 4:45 a.m. Saturday to a burglar alarm at Dollar General, 1815 Pulaski Highway.

According to investigators, a male suspect forced entry through the front door and attempted to access a tobacco display case before fleeing the scene.

Police stated that troopers searched the area and later located a man matching the suspect’s description at a nearby Wawa, 1605 Pulaski Highway.

Authorities identified the man as Anthony Ferguson of Hyattsville, Maryland, and reported that he was detained without incident and determined to be the suspect.

According to police, Ferguson was taken into custody and charged with third-degree burglary, possession of burglar tools, attempted theft under $1,500, and criminal mischief between $1,000 and $5,000.

Police reported that he was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $3,000 unsecured bond.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
