Strange Calls, Fraud, and Disturbances Reported Across Wyomissing

WYOMISSING, PA — Police responded to 21 incidents across the borough on April 9, including fraud reports, disorderly conduct calls, and multiple 911 hang-ups, according to the Wyomissing Police Department.

At approximately 1:00 a.m., officers were dispatched to Route 222 near State Hill Road for two disabled vehicles. Police reported both drivers had already contacted a tow company, and the vehicles were removed.

At 10:27 a.m., officers responded to a 911 hang-up call on Cambridge Avenue. According to police, the call was determined to be a misdial after contact was made with staff at the location.

Shortly after, at 10:39 a.m., police documented a traffic complaint on Downing Drive regarding speeding vehicles.

At 11:48 a.m., officers responded to Cleveland Avenue for a report of found property. Police reported a resident advised they had been finding items placed in front of their home over a two-month period.

Another 911 hang-up call was reported at 12:47 p.m. on Cambridge Avenue and was determined to be accidental, according to police.

At approximately 1:13 p.m., officers responded to Penn Avenue for a report of a missing phone. Police reported the device was pinging in the area, but contact with nearby homeowners did not locate it.

At 1:35 p.m., a walk-in complaint was received regarding a theft from a bank account totaling $618.00. Police reported the investigation is ongoing.

At 3:34 p.m., officers responded to Downing Drive for a report of fraud involving an unemployment claim filed in a resident’s name. According to police, no financial loss was reported and the complainant was provided a report number.

At 5:17 p.m., police were dispatched to Wyomissing Boulevard for a 911 hang-up. Officers reported entering the residence after finding an unlocked door and made contact with the homeowner, who stated there was no emergency.

At approximately 6:00 p.m., officers responded to Peters Way for a disorderly conduct report involving juveniles. Police reported the juveniles were left alone and were throwing a cat from a balcony. The juveniles’ parent was contacted regarding the incident.

At 6:52 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at Papermill Road and Berkshire Boulevard for expired registration. Police reported the driver was issued a citation.

At 7:15 p.m., a second traffic stop was conducted on a ramp near Woodland Road for expired inspection and emissions, resulting in a citation, according to police.

At 7:17 p.m., officers responded to Gail Circle for a report of disorderly conduct involving occupants of a parked vehicle. Police reported the individuals were advised to leave the area.

At 7:33 p.m., officers responded to Hillside Road in West Lawn for a reported domestic dispute. Police reported the incident involved a verbal argument with no physical altercation, and both parties were advised of legal options.

At 8:40 p.m., officers responded to Knitting Mills Way for a suspicious person. Police reported the individual was identified and told to leave private property.

Between 8:42 p.m. and 10:51 p.m., officers conducted multiple traffic stops across Park Road North, State Hill Road, and Old Mill Road for violations including expired registration, suspended licenses, traffic signal violations, and equipment issues. Police reported citations and warnings were issued.

At 9:30 p.m., officers responded to Berkshire Boulevard for a 911 open-line call. Police reported the call was unfounded after checking the area.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
