WILMINGTON, DE — A 16-year-old male juvenile has been taken into custody on gun-related charges following an investigation by the Wilmington Police Department’s Gun Intelligence Unit.
On Saturday, February 24, around 10:45 a.m., officers were conducting a firearm investigation in the 100 block of Town Estates Drive when they encountered the juvenile, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant. He was arrested without incident.
During their investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, which was confirmed to have been reported stolen.
The juvenile now faces multiple charges, including two counts of Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited, Receiving a Stolen Firearm, and Possession of a Large Capacity Magazine.
He was arraigned in New Castle County Family Court and has been committed to the New Castle County Detention Center while awaiting further proceedings.
Authorities emphasize that all charges are allegations, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
