WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington Police Department said officers arrested two men Friday after responding to reports of a disorderly group and a person allegedly carrying a firearm near Vandever Avenue and Thatcher Street.
According to investigators, officers were dispatched to the area at about 3:32 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2026.
Police said responding officers attempted to make contact with two men, later identified as Hasaan Clark, 18, and Naim Benson, 20, when both allegedly fled on foot.
Investigators said officers took both suspects into custody after brief foot pursuits and allegedly recovered a loaded .45-caliber handgun that had been reported stolen in November 2013.
Clark was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, receiving a stolen firearm, and resisting arrest.
Police said Clark was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $30,000 cash-only bail.
Benson was charged with resisting arrest.
According to police, Benson was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $2,000 cash-only bail.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
