WILMINGTON, DE — A 25-year-old Wilmington man faces rape and unlawful sexual contact charges after New Castle County police accused him of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl following months of communication through social media.
New Castle County police said officers were notified Sept. 24 of allegations that the girl had been sexually assaulted in a parking lot in the 3300 block of Old Capitol Trail. Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation.
Investigators said Ahmir Miller, 25, began communicating with the girl through a social media messaging platform in July. Police allege that after an ongoing exchange of messages, Miller drove to the victim’s home, picked her up and took her to the Old Capitol Trail location.
Police allege Miller sexually assaulted the girl inside his vehicle and threatened to harm her if she told anyone about the incident.
At approximately 10:55 p.m. Sept. 24, detectives located Miller during a motor vehicle stop and took him into custody without incident, police said.
Miller was charged with one felony count of third-degree rape, one felony count of second-degree unlawful sexual contact and one misdemeanor count of terroristic threatening.
Following his arraignment at Justice of the Peace Court 7, Miller was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $55,000 cash bail.
