NEW CASTLE, DE — A New Castle woman is facing multiple felony charges after a narcotics investigation led detectives to allegedly recover drugs, firearms and ammunition, according to the New Castle County Division of Police.
Police said detectives assigned to the Violent Crime Interdiction Team began investigating 46-year-old Nicole Malice in June on suspicion that she was distributing narcotics throughout New Castle County.
According to investigators, detectives contacted Malice on June 26 in the parking lot of a shopping center in New Castle. During the encounter, police said they recovered suspected narcotics from her Honda Accord before taking her into custody without incident.
Following her arrest, detectives, assisted by the Delaware Department of Correction Probation and Parole, executed a search warrant at Malice’s residence.
According to police, the search resulted in the seizure of more than 19 grams of suspected crack cocaine, approximately 229 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia consistent with the distribution of controlled substances, two handguns, multiple magazines and assorted ammunition.
Investigators also determined that Malice was allegedly prohibited from possessing firearms because of a prior felony conviction, police said.
Malice was charged with possession of a large-capacity magazine during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Court records show Malice was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution after failing to post $62,500 cash bail.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
