Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Gun Charge for Wilmington Woman

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington woman is facing a firearm charge after police said a traffic stop led to the recovery of a handgun.

According to Wilmington Police, officers conducted a vehicle stop Wednesday, March 25, at approximately 4:18 p.m. in the area of East 25th and Carter streets for a traffic violation.

Police reported that officers made contact with 27-year-old Diamond Kent and took her into custody without incident.

According to authorities, officers allegedly recovered a loaded .9mm handgun during the stop.

Police said Kent was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Authorities reported she was arraigned in New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and released on $2,500 unsecured bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
