Philadelphia Men Sentenced in Armed Robbery Spree

PHILADELPHIA, PA — Two Philadelphia men received lengthy federal prison sentences after convictions tied to a series of armed robberies and attempted robberies targeting retail stores in Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township during 2024.

Tyler Nichols, 31, was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in prison, five years of supervised release, and $5,158.72 in restitution, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Co-defendant Dadisi Williams, 33, was sentenced last month to 15 years in prison, two years of supervised release, and the same restitution amount.

Federal prosecutors said Nichols and Williams carried out four gunpoint robberies or attempted robberies between September and October 2024.

According to court filings and trial evidence, the offenses included the September 19, 2024 robbery of a Family Dollar on Lancaster Avenue in Philadelphia, the September 27, 2024 robbery of an AutoZone on City Avenue in Lower Merion Township, the October 6, 2024 attempted robbery of a Family Dollar on City Avenue in Philadelphia, and the October 11, 2024 attempted robbery of a Family Dollar on Haverford Avenue in Philadelphia.

Nichols and Williams were charged in a 2025 federal indictment with Hobbs Act robbery and firearms offenses related to crimes of violence.

Williams pleaded guilty in January, while a federal jury convicted Nichols on all counts later that month.

The case was investigated by the Philadelphia Police Department, the Lower Merion Township Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Violent Crimes Task Force.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
