HARRISBURG, PA — A Northampton County man has been sentenced to 12 to 24 years in state prison after pleading guilty to multiple felony counts involving child sexual abuse material, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced.

Matthew John Kocher, 32, received the sentence this past week in Northampton County Court following his guilty pleas to numerous counts of sexual abuse of children. The charges involved possession of more than 100 files containing child sexual abuse material.

Kocher will also serve three years of probation and remain subject to sex offender supervision conditions following his release from prison.

The prosecution followed an investigation initiated by a cybertip that led agents with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General to trace file-sharing activity to Kocher.

During the investigation, agents seized electronic devices from Kocher at his workplace in Bethlehem and his residence in Nazareth in 2025, according to the Attorney General’s Office.

Sunday said the sentence reflects the seriousness of offenses involving the sexual exploitation of children.

“We hope a sentence of years and years behind bars serves as a deterrent to anyone who thinks viewing these kinds of photographs and videos are minor crimes,” Sunday said.
