PARKESBURG, PA — A Chester County man is facing felony charges after police alleged he fled from officers during a traffic stop attempt in Highland Township earlier this month.

According to the Parkesburg Borough Police Department, a felony arrest warrant was issued for 44-year-old Herbert E. Mercado following a motor vehicle pursuit that occurred on Tuesday, May 19.

Police alleged Mercado was operating an orange 2011 Mazda CX-9 while his driver’s license was suspended when officers attempted a traffic stop.

According to investigators, Mercado allegedly fled at a high rate of speed rather than stop for police. Authorities further alleged that during the pursuit he nearly caused a crash and placed other motorists at risk.
