HARRISBURG, PA — A Luzerne County mother and grandmother pleaded guilty Thursday to felony charges stemming from the repeated abuse and neglect of an 11-year-old child, a case uncovered after emergency responders were called to a home for a medical incident in 2024.

Amanda Gregorio, the child’s mother, and Stacey Louder, the child’s grandmother, entered guilty pleas in Luzerne County Court, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. Sentencing is scheduled for July 15.

Prosecutors said the case involved repeated physical abuse, restraint of the child, and denial of access to a restroom.

Gregorio pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, false imprisonment, unlawful restraint, and conspiracy to commit endangering the welfare of a child.

Louder pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, and conspiracy to commit endangering the welfare of a child.

The abuse came to light in August 2024 when emergency medical personnel responded to a report of a seizure involving the child.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, medical professionals who examined the child discovered bruising across the child’s body, signs of abuse, and evidence of malnourishment.

Attorney General Dave Sunday said the defendants admitted in court to conduct that involved repeated abuse and neglect.

“The evidence in this case shows these women repeatedly abused and neglected this child of basic care needs, and that is what they admitted to in court today,” Sunday said in a statement.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy Attorneys General Rachael Coleman and Mary Phillips.
