TREDYFFRIN TWP, PA — A Philadelphia man has been charged in connection with an attempted July burglary at Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley’s Tredyffrin Township home and two earlier Lower Merion burglaries in which prosecutors allege nearly $800,000 in jewelry and a safe were stolen.
Jabir Parker, 24, was arrested Sept. 1 by Lower Merion Township police with assistance from FBI SWAT, Pennsylvania State Police, Philadelphia police and the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, according to Montgomery County and Chester County prosecutors.
Authorities allege Parker participated in three forced-entry incidents between June 22 and July 18, including the attempted burglary at Barkley’s home. Barkley and his family were inside during the July 18 incident and were not injured, according to authorities.
The first burglary occurred June 22 at a Bryn Mawr residence, where investigators allege 12 pieces of jewelry valued at approximately $106,700 were stolen.
A second burglary occurred July 5 at a Wynnewood home. Lower Merion police allege 28 pieces of jewelry valued at about $687,292 and a safe were stolen.
Residents were not home during either Lower Merion burglary, according to prosecutors.
The third incident occurred July 18 at Barkley’s Tredyffrin Township home. Authorities allege the homeowners were awakened by suspicious sounds, discovered an unknown man inside the residence and called 911. No property was reported stolen in that incident.
Investigators allege surveillance footage, cellphone data and vehicle records linked Parker to all three locations.
According to prosecutors, detectives used cellphone tower data and geofencing records to identify one cellphone allegedly present at all three burglary locations. Authorities allege that phone belonged to Parker.
Prosecutors also allege Parker’s voice was captured on a nanny camera during the Wynnewood burglary and that cellphone records showed communications with an alleged getaway driver.
Investigators further allege searches from Parker’s cellphone and Gmail accounts included queries related to specific types of jewelry stolen in the burglaries. One search concerning a Rolex allegedly taken in the Bryn Mawr burglary was made 53 minutes after the suspect left that residence, according to prosecutors.
Authorities also traced a white GMC Yukon Denali to a SIXT Rent A Car location in Philadelphia. Prosecutors allege Parker rented the vehicle July 16 and returned it at 6:43 a.m. July 18, approximately 90 minutes after the attempted burglary at the Tredyffrin Township home was interrupted.
Parker is charged with multiple felonies, including burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and criminal use of a communications facility, along with related offenses.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Cathleen Kelly Rebar, who set bail at $1 million cash. Parker was remanded to Montgomery County Correctional Facility, according to prosecutors.
A Sept. 2 bail review before Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas Judge Steven T. O’Neill left the $1 million cash bail unchanged.
Parker’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sept. 10 before Magisterial District Judge John McMahon.
Authorities said additional suspects are being sought. Anyone with information about the burglaries, potential suspects or the sale of stolen property is asked to contact Lower Merion police at 610-649-1000 and ask for detectives.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
