Man Accused in Wilmington Burglary Arrested Nearby

WILMINGTON, DE — A 49-year-old man is accused of burglary and related offenses after being taken into custody near the scene of a reported break-in, according to Wilmington Police.

Police reported that an officer with the Uniformed Services Division responded around 6:09 a.m. April 11 to the 1800 block of Lancaster Avenue for a burglary investigation.

According to investigators, officers conducted an area canvass and located a man matching the suspect description in the 1500 block of West 3rd Street.

Authorities identified the individual as Darnell Miller and stated he was taken into custody without incident. Police reported that a portion of the stolen property was recovered.

According to police, Miller is charged with third-degree burglary, theft of $1,500 or more, and criminal mischief over $1,000.

Police stated that Miller was arraigned in New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
