Mail Carrier Reports Harassment on West State Street

KENNETT SQUARE, PA — An 83-year-old West Chester man has been charged following a reported harassment incident involving a mail carrier in Kennett Square.

According to the Kennett Square Police Department, officers responded at approximately 9:52 a.m. on March 30 to the 500 block of West State Street for a report of harassment.

Police reported that the victim, a mail carrier, said she was subjected to inappropriate comments during an interaction with a male individual later identified as John Schlegel.

According to investigators, Schlegel allegedly made unwanted and lewd remarks that the victim reported as threatening and intimidating.

Authorities said charges were filed in District Court 15-3-04.

Police reported that Schlegel was taken into custody on April 4, 2026, and charged with harassment.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
