Gun, Drug Charges Filed After Early Morning Wilmington Raid

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man is facing multiple gun and drug charges after police said officers executed a search warrant last week.

According to Wilmington Police, members of the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division had been conducting an investigation into 38-year-old Richard Ray prior to the warrant.

Police reported that at approximately 6:00 a.m. on April 2, officers executed a search warrant in the 300 block of New Castle Avenue, where Ray was located and taken into custody without incident.

According to investigators, officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, 55 MDMA pills, a pill press machine, and $522 in U.S. currency.

Authorities said Ray has been charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (Tier 2), two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police reported that Ray was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $20,200 secured bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
