Fraud Probe Ends in Theft Charges Months After Report

SINKING SPRING, PA — A Berks County woman is facing theft-related charges following a fraud investigation that began earlier this year, according to Spring Township police.

Police said officers were contacted by Discovery Federal Credit Union on Feb. 11, 2026, to investigate a reported fraud that resulted in a financial loss of $1,257.33.

According to investigators, the subsequent investigation led to charges against Ashley Carroll, 27.

Carroll was charged with receiving stolen property, bad checks and theft by deception involving false impression. Police said she was arrested June 2.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
