Emergency Calls, Welfare Checks Highlight Busy Day in Wyomissing

WYOMISSING, PA — Police responded to a series of incidents throughout the borough on April 1, 2026, including medical emergencies, welfare checks, a reported accident, and multiple 911 hang-up calls, according to Wyomissing Police.

According to police, officers were dispatched at 10:25 a.m. to Parkside Drive South for a welfare check involving a man reportedly stumbling in traffic. Officers arrived at 10:39 a.m. and made contact with the individual, who told police he was dehydrated and attempting to reach a gas station. Authorities said he requested medical assistance and was transported to Reading Hospital.

Earlier in the day, officers completed a background check at 9:50 a.m. on Reading Boulevard for a prospective borough employee, police reported.

At approximately 12:08 p.m., police were notified of a 911 hang-up call on Wingert Road. Officers were dispatched at 12:19 p.m., arrived at 12:24 p.m., and determined the call was accidental, according to authorities.

Police also reported a medical assist at 12:02 p.m. on Woodland Road, where officers arrived at 12:08 p.m. and determined no police assistance was needed.

At 1:23 p.m., officers on patrol encountered a juvenile in the Parklands whose bicycle tire had detached. Police said the juvenile and the bicycle were transported to his father’s home in West Reading.

Later, at approximately 1:47 p.m., officers were dispatched to 7th Street for a report involving a mental health concern. Police reported the individual was transported to Reading Hospital for an involuntary commitment.

An automatic fire alarm was reported at 2:32 p.m. on Penn Avenue. Police said no response was made due to higher-priority calls, and the fire department handled the incident.

At 2:54 p.m., officers responded to Bristol Court to check on a child following an emergency protection-from-abuse order issued in another county. Police said the matter was resolved.

Authorities reported a walk-in complaint at 3:00 p.m. on Penn Avenue involving an attempted fraud related to a check deposited at the Wyomissing Post Office. The case remains under follow-up investigation.

At approximately 4:19 p.m., officers responded to a 911 hang-up call on Berkshire Boulevard tied to an EMS advisory. Police said no further action was required.

Police were dispatched at 4:25 p.m. to Route 422 for a non-reportable motor vehicle accident. Officers arrived and reported no injuries and no vehicles required towing.

At 5:19 p.m., officers conducted a self-initiated traffic stop on Penn Avenue and issued a warning for a traffic signal violation, according to police.

At 5:40 p.m., police received a walk-in complaint on Reading Boulevard regarding suspicious activity. After investigation, officers determined no fraud had occurred.

Later in the evening, at 6:19 p.m., officers responded to Lauers Lane for a report of a vehicle parked on a lawn. Police said the vehicle had left prior to their arrival.

At approximately 6:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to Woodland Road for a report of an unconscious person. Police said the incident was handled by the Wyomissing Fire Department, and the individual was transported to a hospital by EMS.

Police reported a total of 15 incidents for the day.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
