Drug Investigation Sparks Arrest Following Community Complaints

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man faces drug-related charges after police investigating community complaints about suspected narcotics activity allegedly observed drug transactions on the city’s West Side.

According to Wilmington Police, members of the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division were conducting an investigation in the 1700 block of West 3rd Street at approximately 11:19 a.m. on June 10 in response to reports of suspected drug activity.

Police reported that investigators allegedly observed 40-year-old Anthony Selby engaged in drug transactions before making contact with him.

According to police, Selby was taken into custody without incident. During the investigation, officers allegedly recovered approximately 2 grams of crack cocaine.

Police charged Selby with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and tampering with physical evidence.

Court records cited by police show Selby was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 20 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $8,000 secured bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
