Drug Investigation Ends With Arrest in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man was arrested on felony drug charges after officers conducting a narcotics investigation allegedly observed drug transactions on the city’s East Side, according to Wilmington Police.

Police reported that members of the Drug, Organized Crime and Vice Division were in the 400 block of East 3rd Street at approximately 1:48 p.m. on June 8 when they allegedly observed a man engaged in drug-related activity.

According to police, officers made contact with the individual, identified as 41-year-old Wallace Haile.

During the investigation, officers allegedly recovered 14.5 grams of crack cocaine, police said.

Haile was taken into custody without incident and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver in a Tier 2 quantity and possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 2 quantity, according to police.

Court records cited by police show Haile was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $15,000 cash-only bail.

All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
