LANSDALE, PA — One person died, and at least four households were displaced after a fire spread through attached homes in Lansdale early Friday morning, according to police.
Officers with the Lansdale Police Department responded at approximately 6:16 a.m. July 31 to the 800 block of Andover Road for reports of a house fire involving multiple residences. Upon arrival, officers encountered heavy fire conditions affecting two attached homes and received reports that occupants were trapped inside.
According to police, firefighters brought the blaze under control at approximately 7:44 a.m. Authorities then confirmed that one person had died inside one of the affected residences. The victim’s identity has not been released pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Police said residents from at least four homes were displaced by the fire and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross. Officials reported no additional injuries.
Fairmount Fire Company was assisted at the scene by multiple fire companies, VMSC Emergency Medical Services, Lansdale Electric and PECO. Emergency responders remained at the scene Friday, and police urged motorists to avoid the area because of road closures.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the Lansdale Police Department.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
