Daylight Gunfire After Argument Leaves Police Searching for Suspect

NEWARK, DE — Police are investigating a shots-fired incident following a daytime altercation in a residential area Thursday afternoon.

According to Delaware State Police, troopers responded at approximately 12:40 p.m. April 23 to the 700 block of Prides Crossing near the Liberty Square apartment complex for a report of gunfire.

Investigators said two individuals were involved in a verbal dispute when one person allegedly discharged a firearm. Police reported that after the incident, one individual ran into the apartment complex while the other fled the area in a blue sedan.

Authorities said no injuries were reported. Investigators also noted that no spent shell casings or property damage were located at the scene.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is continuing the investigation.
