NEWARK, DE — A Newark man is facing multiple felony charges after New Castle County police accused him of sexually abusing a child who attended an in-home daycare operated from his residence.
According to the New Castle County Division of Police, detectives began investigating in August 2025 after receiving allegations involving incidents that allegedly occurred between 2016 and 2019 at a home in the unit block of Montvale Road.
Investigators allege that Orlando Gonzalez-Jimenez, 57, subjected a child under the age of 5 to unlawful sexual contact while the child attended daycare services at the residence. Police further allege that Gonzalez-Jimenez used threats of physical violence to coerce the child into unlawful sexual activity.
Following the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Gonzalez-Jimenez. Police said members of the Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team located him at his Montvale Road residence on July 8 and took him into custody without incident.
Gonzalez-Jimenez was charged with three felony counts of first-degree unlawful sexual contact, one felony count of continuous sexual abuse of a child and one misdemeanor count of terroristic threatening.
Police said he was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $130,000 cash bail.
According to investigators, detectives believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward. Anyone with information about the investigation, or who believes they may have been a victim, is asked to contact Detective Taveras-Jerez at 302-395-2784 or Armelys.TaverasJerez@newcastlede.gov.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
