HARRISBURG, PA — An 81-year-old Columbia County man is facing dozens of felony charges after investigators allegedly found child sexual abuse material on electronic devices at his home following a cyber tip investigation, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office.
Attorney General Dave Sunday announced that Brent Vogelbacher, of Catawissa, was charged with 85 felonies related to the alleged possession of child sexual abuse material.
According to the Attorney General’s Office, investigators with the Child Predator Section received a cyber tip and traced the alleged illegal material to Vogelbacher’s residence in Catawissa. Authorities said a search warrant was executed at the home on Wednesday.
Investigators alleged that dozens of child sexual abuse material files were discovered on devices seized from the residence.
Vogelbacher was arraigned this week, and bail was set at $50,000 cash, according to the Attorney General’s Office.
In announcing the charges, Sunday said the investigation resulted in the recovery of a large volume of files that investigators allege depicted the sexual exploitation of children.
The case is being prosecuted by the Office of Attorney General’s Child Predator Section.
Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact Agent Hertzog through the Attorney General’s Office at 800-385-1044.
All suspects, arrestees, and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
