Child Wounded in Wilmington Gunfire, Charges Pending

WILMINGTON, DE — Wilmington police are investigating a shooting that left an 18-year-old man and a 4-year-old child wounded Sunday evening.

According to Wilmington Police, officers responded to the 1400 block of West 3rd Street at approximately 6:39 p.m. on June 14 following reports of a shooting.

Investigators reported that an 18-year-old gunshot victim later arrived at a hospital in stable condition. Police also said a 4-year-old boy who suffered a gunshot wound was transported to a hospital and was listed in stable condition.

According to a preliminary investigation, police allege the 18-year-old exchanged gunfire with multiple unidentified individuals. Authorities reported that the 18-year-old was also wanted on an unrelated matter at the time of the incident.

Police said charges against the 18-year-old related to the shooting investigation are pending.
