ASTON, PA — A youth hockey team and a Chester faith community will unite this month for a holiday service event aimed at inspiring young people to lead with compassion both on and off the ice. Sow Good Now, a national youth sports philanthropy organization, announced it will bring together the Little Flyers hockey team and youth from Faith Tabernacle Church for its annual December GiveBack event.
The gathering, scheduled for Tuesday, December 16, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Aston IceWorks, will blend hockey, mentorship, and hands-on service projects. Organizers say the goal is to introduce young athletes to philanthropy as a lifelong practice, pairing sport with opportunities to support local families and build stronger community ties.
Faith Tabernacle Church has served Chester residents for decades through its Mission of Care program, launched in 1984. Leaders say the partnership with Sow Good Now and the Little Flyers aligns with the church’s longstanding commitment to supporting youth and offering stability and connection for families.
During the event, players from the Little Flyers will step into leadership roles, working alongside Faith Tabernacle youth in activities designed to foster empathy, teamwork, and service. Organizers describe the tradition as a meaningful way to celebrate the holiday season while encouraging young people to collaborate for a shared purpose.
The GiveBack has become a signature year-end tradition for Sow Good Now, which works to harness the energy of youth sports and channel it into community-focused initiatives. More information about the organization’s programs is available at sowgoodnow.org.
