World Courier Expands Specialty Logistics Network in Response to Growing Pharmaceutical Demand

Cencora

CONSHOHOCKEN, PA — World Courier, a global specialty logistics provider and part of Cencora (formerly AmerisourceBergen), is extending its reach with the opening of transport stations in Denver, Indianapolis, and San Diego. The expansion comes as the specialty pharmaceutical market continues to grow, necessitating increased capacity for the storage, handling, and transport of complex specialty pharmaceutical products.

These new facilities will enhance World Courier’s ability to support the transport of pharmaceuticals that require specialized conditions, including cryogenic storage. Notably, the Indianapolis site will be equipped with liquid nitrogen (LN2) tanks and charging capabilities, further strengthening World Courier’s global network of charging centers and stations.

“As more complex and sensitive pharmaceutical products enter clinical development, the demand for highly specialized logistics continues to increase,” said Matt Virgilio, Regional Vice President of North America for World Courier. “By expanding our network and capabilities, we are well-positioned to support our partners’ evolving needs.”

Beyond the new U.S. facilities, which bring World Courier’s North American network to 17 sites, the company has also launched a Container Freight Station at its New Hyde Park facility in New York. This addition, along with approval from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, allows World Courier to store shipments in its facility while awaiting customs clearance, rather than leaving them with the airline. This control over storage enables improved temperature management, real-time monitoring of conditions, and expedited shipping processes.

Earlier this year, World Courier implemented a real-time location monitoring solution on all of its multi-use packages, enhancing visibility into the precise location of global shipments in transit. The company also plans to expand its presence in Denmark and Germany and increase its cold chain and cryogenic storage capabilities worldwide.

These expansions and enhancements represent World Courier’s ongoing dedication to meeting the growing demands of the specialty pharmaceutical market, ensuring therapies reach the patients who need them, no matter their location.
