WARRINGTON, PA — Windtree Therapeutics, Inc. (NasdaqCM: WINT) has unveiled plans to diversify its revenue streams with the acquisition of a 436-unit multifamily residential property in Houston, Texas. The planned purchase is part of the company’s broader strategy to stabilize revenue and support its ongoing therapeutic pipeline development.
The acquisition will be carried out through a wholly owned subsidiary of Windtree and is expected to contribute consistent rental income. Funding for the purchase will primarily come from non-recourse secured mortgage financing, with the remaining cost being covered by proceeds from the issuance of preferred stock. The closing is tentatively scheduled for May 23, 2025, with provisions for two potential 30-day extensions. The deal is contingent on standard property due diligence and the finalization of financing terms.
Windtree’s new approach reflects a pivot toward acquiring revenue-generating assets, including small biotech companies with FDA-approved products, while maintaining its focus on developing unique drug candidates in cardiovascular and oncology therapy areas.
“Windtree is expected to become a revenue generating company and these additional assets are intended to diversify and stabilize the Company,” said Jed Latkin, Chief Executive Officer of Windtree. “By identifying opportunities to bring in stable revenue, we believe the Company can reduce its need for capital that could be dilutive to the stock price. We are actively looking at multiple acquisition candidates that could provide near term revenue and profits. We will continue in our mission to help patients in need with our existing unique drug candidates in cardiogenic shock, heart failure and cancer. We believe that this new approach will allow the Company to grow and limit future stockholder dilution.”
This new direction underscores Windtree’s commitment to balancing revenue diversification with groundbreaking therapeutic developments, positioning the company for long-term stability and growth.
