Wilmington Woman Arrested in Connection with Fatal Stabbing Incident

WILMINGTON, DE — A fatal stabbing incident in the early hours of February 28, 2024, led to the arrest of 39-year-old Clarissa Sierra of Wilmington, Delaware. Sierra is facing multiple felony charges including Murder First Degree, following her alleged involvement in a physical altercation that ended in tragedy.

According to Delaware State Police, troopers were dispatched to the intersection of Maryland Avenue and Clayton Road in Wilmington shortly before 1 a.m., following a 911 call made by Sierra herself. She reported being involved in an altercation that had escalated to a stabbing.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found an adult male victim suffering from a chest stab wound. He was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s identity is being withheld until his family can be notified.

Sierra was apprehended at the scene without incident. A knife, believed to be the weapon used in the stabbing, was found in her possession. Sierra was subsequently taken to Troop 2, where she was charged with Murder First Degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a Deadly Weapon by Person Prohibited, and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon. All charges are classified as felonies. Following her arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 2, Sierra was committed to the Department of Corrections on a $1,065,000 cash bond.

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit continues to actively investigate this incident. They have issued a plea to residents in Cleland Heights, particularly those living along Clayton Road, Cleland Course, Robbins Place, Charles Place, and Coyne Place. The police have requested these residents to review any doorbell or exterior surveillance footage captured between the hours of 11 p.m. on February 27 and 1 a.m. on February 28.
