WILMINGTON, DE — A Wilmington man has been arrested on drug charges following surveillance by local law enforcement, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

On January 11, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division were on patrol in the 1200 block of Lancaster Avenue when they observed a male allegedly engaged in drug-related activity. Upon making contact, police identified the individual as 46-year-old Dwayne Britt.

Britt was taken into custody without incident. Upon his arrest, he was reportedly found with 9 grams of crack cocaine and $466.

Facing serious charges, Britt has been accused of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, as well as possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity. Following his arraignment in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, Britt was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $12,000 cash-only bail.

The arrest underscores the continued efforts by Wilmington law enforcement to combat drug-related activities within the city.

Information may change as additional details of the case come to light. Furthermore, an arrest, criminal complaint, or charge is not a declaration of guilt. Britt, like all defendants, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
