PHILADELPHIA, PA — Motorists traveling through North Philadelphia should prepare for detours this weekend as SEPTA begins removing old embedded trolley tracks along Germantown Avenue. The work, part of ongoing infrastructure improvements, aims to enhance roadway safety and mobility in the corridor.
From 7:00 AM Friday, November 14, through 5:00 PM Sunday, November 16, Germantown Avenue will be closed between Route 611 (Broad Street) and McFerran Street. Eastbound drivers will be detoured via Pike Street, 15th Street, and Butler Street, while westbound motorists will use Butler Street, Route 611 (Broad Street), and Pike Street.
Local access will remain available, but drivers should allow extra time when traveling near the closure due to expected congestion. All scheduled work is weather dependent.
