WAWA, PAWawa, the beloved convenience store chain, has officially entered the Georgia market, marking a significant expansion into the southeastern United States. The first Georgia store opened its doors on November 14 at 1401 Tallahassee Highway in Bainbridge. This move is part of Wawa’s broader strategy to introduce its unique blend of food, beverages, and community spirit to new audiences.

By the end of 2024, Wawa plans to open additional locations in Brunswick and Jesup, Georgia. “It’s official – Wawa is opening our doors to serve our newest friends and neighbors in Georgia!” said Brian Schaller, President of Wawa. “We are thrilled to open three stores this year to bring our investment in Georgia to life.”

Wawa’s grand openings will feature community events designed to introduce the brand to local residents. These events will highlight the company’s history and its commitment to community involvement. As part of these efforts, Wawa, along with The Wawa Foundation, will present charitable contributions totaling $30,000 to food banks like Second Harvest of Georgia and Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. These donations aim to support local initiatives and aid those affected by Hurricane Helene.

Looking ahead, Wawa plans an ambitious expansion in Georgia, with five to six new stores slated to open in 2025 in locations such as Hinesville, Pooler, Waycross, Valdosta, and Albany. Over the next 5 to 8 years, Wawa intends to establish more than 26 stores across the state, investing approximately $7.5 million per store and creating nearly 900 jobs.

Wawa’s strategic growth in Georgia not only signifies its physical expansion but also its dedication to building lasting relationships within the communities it serves. This approach ensures that as Wawa’s footprint increases, so does its positive impact on local economies and charitable organizations.
