LANCASTER, PA — Law enforcement officials have issued an arrest warrant for a Philadelphia man in connection with an alleged retail theft incident. Richard Edward Saunders, 33, is facing charges of retail theft and conspiracy to commit retail theft, as announced by the Manheim Township Police Department.

The incident dates back to October 31, 2023, when three men allegedly left Dick’s Sporting Goods at 1587 Fruitville Pike without paying for selected merchandise. The stolen items, primarily Nike and North Face brand products, were valued at $4,572.99.

According to the reporting party, the suspects made no attempt to pay for the merchandise and deliberately avoided the final points of sale. They then reportedly left the store together, got into a red sedan, and fled from the parking lot.

Following a review of the surveillance footage, the police managed to identify the suspects. On November 22, 2023, information relating to the identity of the suspects was located. They were later apprehended by the Pocono Township Police Department on charges of retail theft.

One of the individuals captured in the surveillance footage was identified as Saunders. A criminal complaint was subsequently filed against him, and an arrest warrant was obtained. Despite these developments, Saunders remains at large.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Richard Edward Saunders is encouraged to contact the Manheim Township Police Department or to provide information anonymously online here.

As the investigation continues, it’s important to remember that these are allegations, and Saunders is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
